Welcome

On behalf of District 16, Virginia State Little League Baseball and Little League International, I welcome you to Freedom Park in Leesburg, Virginia and the 2011 Little League Baseball State Championship. This is the 25th Anniversary of Loudoun County hosting this event. In 1986, as part of District 3, Loudoun County (Leesburg) hosted the Boys Little League State Championship. Now as District 16 we welcome all of you back to Loudoun County to enjoy our beautiful facilities (Freedom Park) and all there is to see and do in Leesburg, VA.

District 16 is made up of one softball league (Loudoun Girls Little League Softball) and five baseball leagues (Upper Loudoun Little League, Central Loudoun Little League, Loudoun South Little League, Dulles Little League, and Lower Loudoun Little League). We’re proud to be hosting our third State Tournament as a district (2008 9-10 Year-Old Baseball and 2009 Little League Softball).

Teams of 11 & 12 year olds representing 16 Districts from all corners of Virginia are here to crown the 2011 Little League Champion. We hope that your favorite team plays to the best of their ability and enjoys the experience of playing for a State Championship. The winner advances to Southeastern Region where, if successful, will represent Southeastern Region in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA in late August.

For some, this may be their only State Championship experience. For others, this may be their second or third State Championship opportunity. In either case, from the volunteers and members of District 16, it is our earnest desire to make this experience a special and memorable one. We hope that you enjoy all that there is to see and do in Leesburg and Northern Virginia and, more importantly, we hope that you enjoy the baseball — it should be exciting.
